Click on the Start Button, then the user icon at the top of the screen, then Lock.After a short time of inactivity, screen saver will automatically lock the screen and apply password protection. Select Screen Saver at the bottom of the window that appears. Right click on the Desktop, then select Personalize. Select Accounts located towards the bottom of the window, then select Sign-In Options on the left. You can do this by clicking on the start button and then typing it in the search bar. Click on the Start Button, then the user icon, then lock. The Windows Key is located on the bottom row of your keyboard and has the Windows logo on it. This will immediately lock your screen and require a password to get back on. Setting the time lower will give greater security. Setting the timer to 10 minutes or less is recommended. Check the "On resume, display logon screen" box.

You can do this by clicking on the start button and clicking on the settings cog between the user icon and the power button This is done by going through the Accounts settings. Before learning about the different ways of initiating the lock screen, you must set a password first.
